 2004 West Virginia University Football Highlights West Virginia football fans awaited the 2004 season with much anticipation. The Mountaineers had plenty of talent returning and were picked to win the Big East conference. Lofty goals and high expectations were placed on this team's shoulders. Success came behind a high powered rushing game, an exciting quarterback and an opportunistic defense that delivered some big plays. There were victories...there were defeats, but there was never a lack of effort. The Mountaineers received the national spotlight in 2004 and performed well in front of the bright lights.
